Athens vs. Sparta
If you were to travel back in time to ancient Greece, which polis would you want to be a citizen of? In your response, write a topic sentence, include at least 3 details to support your opinion, and then write a concluding sentence.

If I was given the choice to go back in time I would want to be a Spartian. I would want to live there because women could own land and even take part in some business. Also, they were big in physical strength and sports. If I am not in school I am usually playing or practicing some kind of sport. That is why I would be a Spartian if I could travel back in time.

I do not like to do military work at seven years old by force. In Athens they are smart and do theater, and I love to do theater! Sparta is not fair. They cheat, steal, and lie. That's why I would want to be an Athenian instead of a Spartan!!!

Also, Athens had many achievements. For example, they invented the theater, held the Olympics, and many other things. I could do other things than being a soldier. Athens, unlike Sparta, also had democracy. If I was an Athenian, I could have at least some rights, while Spartans didn't have a lot an Athenian rather than a Spartan.

They have a say about their laws and government. Athens and Sparta had a rival with Athens vs. Sparta. They had a war against each other. That is what I really like about Athens and even the part about the war against Sparta.
If I had the choice to go back to Ancient Greece I would have to choose Athens or Sparta. I would choose Athens because it is aboult mostly wisdom, but also about war. I would choose Sparta because woman had more rights like they could do sports and own land and they could do stuff only men could do in other city-state.That is why I would travel back in time to be an Athens person or a Sparta person.
If I was given the choice to go back in time I would be a Spartian.I would want rights and be active. Also I would want to be a Spartian because woman could take part in owning land and take part in bussiness. That is why I want to be a Spartain.
If there was a time machine that had a Athens button and a Sparta button without hesitation I would hit the Athens button. I would rather be in Athens because I could not take the harsh physical labor they do. I also do not want to be a Spartan because I'd rather be smart than be strong. The last reason why I want to be a Athenian is because Sparta kills there infants that don't seem strong enough! Those are the reasons why I want to be a Athenian.
If I had to choose Athens or Sparta to live in it would have to be Athens. I would not want to be a Spartan because I would not be able to take the constant training. I also would hate the fact that sometimes i would have to steal to stay alive. It would be so hard to watch a poor innocent baby die too. The fact of if I got hurt I wouldn't be able to reveal my pain would be terrible. That is why I would not want to be a Spartan and Athens would be my choice.
If I were to go back in time i would be a Spartan. One reason is that I would be very good because I am very athletic and do lots of sports. Another reason is that I like to have compitition "wars" with other people and compete with them. Lastly is that I would be able to be treated pretty equally with men and do many more things than Athenian women. Those are the reasons I would want to be a Spartan if I went back in time.
If I were to travel back in time I would deffinetly be a Athenian for a couple reasons. The first reason is that Sparta has a lot of big punishments.For example if there were a baby born and it didn't appear strong they would carry it to the hill side and leave it there to die. The second reason is that Athens were respected because of democracy. Also they were intelligent for Math and Science. Athenian women would always stay at home taking care of the children. I love to watch kids. Last, the boys in Sparta would leave there mothers at the age of 7 yrs. I get home sick just from going to a summer camp. Thats why I want to be an Athenian.
If I had a choice between Athens and Sparta, I would be Spartan. I like Sparta more because you have to train all your life until you become a great warrior. Plus whenever I play a game or something, I always try to cheat without being noticed. I guess if I did become a Spartan, that would be aloud.
I would rather be and athens because you have more freedom because all the sparta people do is wars.Next i do not want to throw my kid on a hill and make him die or sufer.Lastly the men got to go to wine party's and go shopping while the women are whatching the kids the whole time.That is why i would rather be a athens then a sparta.
If I could go back in time to either ancient Sparta or Athens, I would choose to go to Athens. The reason that I would choose Athens is because of their democracy. People have a say in the government. Athenians were very intelligent people. They loved the Arts. Theater was important and so was science and architecture. The one thing that amazes me is that they were intelligent people, and they worshiped gods and goddesses.
If I could go back in time to Sparta or Athens, I would choose Sparta. I think that I would have been a good Spartan because I am strong and would be good in battle. Sparta had many wars and I would have to fight in the wars. In Sparta, boys went away at 7 years old to train to fight. I would be a great warrior!
If I would want to travel back in time, I would want to be a Spartian male because I am a good athlete, also because my family has a military history.My Dad was in the Marine Corps. Puppa Billings was in the USAF. On my Mom"s side of the family, my Puppa Coulombe was in the Navy. I used to steal things from my brother's room, so I am a good thief! I even used to lie when I was younger! I also cheated at board games. I get vicious when I yell, or when I get yelled at. All of these things I've explained is proof that I would be a good Spartan!
If I had a choice to go back to the past and either be a Athenian or Spartan I would choose to be a Spartan. The main reason is that Spartan women are more equal to spartan men. In Sparta the woman did not have to stay home all day and watch the children, were in Athens the woman had to. In Sparta they believed the woman grew up strong and healthy so they would have strong and healthy children. The woman in Sparta could compete in wrestling and spear throwing I think that is more fair if the woman had a choice if they wanted to compete in those sports. They did not have to if they did not want to. That is why I would rather be a Spartan than an Athenian.
When I leave Miss Whitaker's room I would rather be a Spartan. My first reason is because as a woman I would have more rights. Also I would probably live long because I am not a sissy. I am also not a brain-i-ac like people in Athens. I would want to be a Spartan because I would have two gods, Ares and Artemis. That is why I want to be a Spartan.

I know you have to leave your baby to die if they don't appear strong as a infant, but Athenians have an much more boring life than Spartans. Spartans also have more rights. I would rather be a Spartan because, first the women have a more fair and equal life with men, where as Athenian women had to stay home and cook, raise the children, clean the house etc. while the men shop and hang out with their friends. Next Spartans were a lot stronger. girls acually got to train and compete in wrestling and spear throwing, that is a lot more than Athenian women got to do. They were athletic and so so am I, I do a lot of sports such as, soccer, softball, basketball, dance, and track. These are some of the reasons I would rather be a Spartan.

I like her because she is the goddess of wisdom and in the Percy Jackson series she is the mother of Annabeth, who is one of the main characters. I also like Athens because of the Parthenon. This is why I would want to be an Athenian.
I would rather be a Spartan than an Athenan.They really knew how to fight. Also,they had more money than Athenians so they could afford to get better supplies such as, bronze swords,chariots,& horses. I like the fact that Spartan's god of war is Aries. Aries is my favorite god. These are just a few reasons why I'd like to be a Spartan.
